• Check to see if the potential builder is registered with the Better Business Bureau.
• Highly consider using a professional from the Canadian Home Builders Association.
• Check with the builder's suppliers and follow up on any references.
• Before choosing a renovator, check to ensure that they are registered with a professional organization such as the Canadian Home Builders and Reno Mark Association.
• Always get at least 3 quotes.
• And always "Get it in Writing".
